It was an uncharacteristically bad night for Jimmie Johnson. Throughout his career, Johnson has made Charlotte Motor Speedway his personal playground but in last night's Coca Cola 600, Johnson found himself in unfamilar territory. Johnson was never a big player in the race and a late pit road penalty forced Johnson to play catchup in the 600's final stages. Johnson's engine failed in the final 10 laps giving him a 28th place finish.
