Race 5 - Auto Club 400 Penalties

Sunday's Auto Club 400 at the Auto Club Speedway was a race to forget for Jeff Gordon. Gordon's DuPont Chevrolet looked to be one of the contenders for the win in the first half of the race as Gordon had spent the majority of it in the top five. Unfortunately, things got bad in a hurry for the 24 car. While leaving his pits during a scheduled green flag pit stop on lap 107, Gordon's fuel man was dragged out of the pit box with his fuel can forcing Gordon to serve a stop and go penalty. The day ended up being even more frustrating as Gordon's crew again cost their driver in the pits with a tire violation during the race's only caution flag. Gordon had no chance to make up for the miscues as rain came and eventually forced NASCAR to call the event short of the scheduled distance. The DuPont Chevrolet was scored as finishing 26th, the last car on the lead lap.
