2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Race 4 - Food City 500 Penalty Report

Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway got off to a horrendous start for Tony Stewart. The Indiana native cut a tire in the first 10 laps of the 500 lap race, spun and hit the wall. Stewart was forced behind the wall for repairs for more than 20 laps before returning to the track. To make matters worse, the 14 team was penalized for having too many crew members in contact with the pit service area. Stewart muscled through to finish a disappointing 31st.

2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - Race 2 - Subway Fresh Fit 500 Penalty Report

It was a rough day for Kyle Busch and his M&M's/Joe Gibbs Racing team.  Prior to the race, the 18 team was forced to change their car's engine forcing their driver to start the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at the rear of the field instead of where they had qualified, fourth.  Busch was on his way to the front until he spun on lap 49 and hit the wall.  The rest of the event proved to be a struggle for both driver and team and even after getting back on the lead lap in the race's latter stages, Busch found trouble again while trying to avoid running into his older brother, Kurt.  At the checkered flag, Busch crossed the line 23rd, the final car on the lead lap.

Race 33 - Tums Fast Relief 500 Penalties

Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway proved to be a big player in the Chase For The 2012 Sprint Cup for Denny Hamlin.  Going into the race, Hamlin was one of the favorites to win another prized Grandfather Clock in the final short track race of the year.  Unfortunately, things got off to a rough start during the first pit stop under caution when Hamlin was caught speeding entering the pits.  Hamlin was able to recover and bring the FedEx Express Toyota back to the top 10 until a stop on lap 200 when he was caught speeding in the pits once again.  The day got worse later on when the 11 car developed electrical issues which eventually got so bad that Hamlin's car quit on the track on lap 393 bringing out a caution flag.  The 11 crew made repairs to get their driver back on the track with Hamlin finishing 33rd, 34 laps down to the leaders.

NASCAR's Most Penalized Drivers (After Race 5)

Coming off a victory the week before at Bristol, Michigan native, Brad Keselowski had to feel good about his chances at Auto Club Speedway in the Auto Club 400 on Sunday. The #2 Miller Lite Dodge didn't seem to have the handling throughout the rain shortened event as Keselowski rode around 15th spot for most of the race. Unfortunately, NASCAR found Keselowski to be speeding entering the pits during a lap 101 pit stop. Keselowski wasn't the only driver who was trouble in the pits as Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte, Joey Logano, Regan Smith and J.J. Yeley all faced the wrath of NASCAR for various penalties.

Things barely got going for Marcos Ambrose and his #9 Mac Tools Ford in Sunday's Food City 500 before he was caught up in a multi-car pileup on lap 25. While Ambrose crew was able to get their driver back on the track to score precious points, salt was added to their wounds during a stop on lap 481 when Ambrose was caught speeding entering the pits. Ambrose came across the finish line in 36th position, 111 laps behind the leaders.
