Race 7 - Samsung Mobile 500 Penalties

What looked to be a solid night for Marcos Ambrose took a sudden turn for the worse right at the conclusion of Saturday night's Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Ambrose had his Stanley Tools Ford positioned solidly in the top 10 for nearly all of the 500-mile event before running out of fuel while coming to take the white flag. To make matters worse, NASCAR caught Ambrose speeding when he entered the pits, due to his inability to monitor his tachometer. Because NASCAR could not give Ambrose the usual pass thru penalty for speeding, he was dropped to the rear of the lap he finished the race, 20th place one lap off the leaders.

Number/Driver, Lap, Infraction, Penalty
#38 David Gilliland, 146, Speed-Entering pits, Pass Thru
#33 Tony Raines, 147, Speed-Exiting pits, Pass Thru
#34 David Ragan, 289, Speed-Entering pits, Pass Thru
#9 Marcos Ambrose, 334, Speed-Entering pits, Tail End Of Lap

*Marcos Ambrose's speeding penalty is not counted against him as a serious penalty as he was unable to monitor his speed entering the pits due to running out of fuel.
